Yanto Eluay: Pepera 1969 Legal Evidence that Papua is part of the Republic of Indonesia

JBN NEWS ■ The results of the Papua People's Opinion Determination (Pepera) decision in 1969, from a historical and juridical perspective, there is no longer any gap for a handful of people or groups to bring up or even claim that Papua is not part of the Republic of Indonesia.

This was emphasized by a young Papuan figure, Yanto Eluay, who was the son of the late Dortheys Hiyo Eluay, a 1969 Pepera figure who was concerned about the situation.

He feels obliged to reduce any bad agitation efforts against the Papuan people, which he conveyed on Wednesday (28/10/2020) to coincide with Youth Pledge Day at the traditional Pendopo Ondofolo Yanto Eluay, Sereh Village, Sentani Papua.

In addition, the existence of the Armed Separatist Criminal Group (KKSB) in Papua also undermines, plus the provocation of foreign parties, namely opportunist foreign activists and a small country in the South Pacific which always speaks negatively against the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

Yanto Eluay told a little about "The results of the Pepera have been submitted to the Secretary General of the United Nations which was later ratified at the general session of the United Nations (UN). Not only that, the Netherlands, which at that time was still a colonial country, also accepted the results of the Pepera, so at that time the Netherlands acknowledged it. that Papua is a legitimate part of the Republic of Indonesia, "explained Yanto Eluay furiously.

Yanto Eluay explained that the implementation of the Pepera at that time was held in 8 districts namely Jayawijaya, Merauke, Paniai, Fakfak, Sorong, Manokwari, Biak and Jayapura which was attended by 1026 members of the Pepera Deliberative Council (DMP) representing the total population of Papua, which at that time numbered 809,327 people.

"The UN Secretary General finally headed to Jayapura to guarantee the process of transfer of power from UNTEA to the Indonesian government. This was guided by the integration of Papua on May 1, 1963 and the results of the 1969 Pepera which gave birth to UN resolution 2504," added Yanto Eluay.

In the momentum of 28 October Commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day, Yanto opened the mindset of the Papuan people to be more realistic and not easily influenced by parties who wanted to scatter Papua from the Republic of Indonesia which led to conflict.

"We will declare the Presidium of the Men and Women of the Pepera Fighters for the province of Papua (P5) and a statement of the stance of the Red and White Organizations for Papua," said Yanto Eluay who is also an Ondofolo Besar in the Tabi Ondo customary area.

"The purpose of this activity is to safeguard and oversee the 1969 Decree and support all central government programs to advance and develop Papua," said Yanto Eluay.

"If there is still noise about education, welfare and others, our mass organizations are ready to bridge the issue of human rights violations, stop the outdated issue about Free Papua. We have to talk about 1969 and above, don't think backwards," said Yanto Heluay.

The important thing was conveyed by Yanto Eluay, that the mass organization he formed was non-partisan, "Our concern is to socialize the 1969 Pepera which is final and Papua is part of the Republic of Indonesia," said Yanto Eluay.

Yanto has also fostered good relations with the central government, regional governments and elements of the people's representatives, TNI and Polri. Yanto is grateful that so far his movement has received good and positive responses from various circles.

Meanwhile, the Head of Information (Kapen) of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III Colonel CZI IGN Suriastawa, when confirmed, said that the TNI very much welcomed the declaration and position statement of the Ormas-Ormas for Papua initiated by Yanto Eluay on Wednesday (28/10/2020 ).

"This is proof that most of the indigenous Papuans are aware of the true history of Papua as part of the Republic of Indonesia. De facto and de jure Papua is legally part of the Republic of Indonesia, "said Colonel Suriastawa. (pen / R-01)
