 Smuggling of Frozen Meat into Bali was foiled

JBN.CO.ID ■ Efforts to smuggle are still rampant through the Ketapang Crossing Port - Gilimanuk, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, on Thursday (1/8).

Evidently, the Gilimanuk Sea Regional Police officers foiled efforts to smuggle hundreds of kilograms of frozen meat into Bali.

Gilimanuk police chief AKP Gusti Nyoman Sudarsana said the disclosure of the case began when officers at the post II entrance to Bali checked the white DK 9331 cream box truck driven by Benjamin Pieter Johan (50) resident from Surabaya.

When inspected, PT Puspasari Perkasa's expedition truck from Surabaya to Denpasar destination found 8 sterofoam boxes of frozen duck and tuna meat without a health certificate from quarantine.

Then the officers confiscated 6 sterofoam of frozen duck meat of around 300 kg and 2 sterofoam. Frozen tuna meat was about 100 kg.

One registration sheet on behalf of the company and losses reached millions of rupiah.

"This violates Article 31 in conjunction with Article 6 letters a and c of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 16 of 1992 concerning quarantine of animals, fish and plants, namely carrying or transporting quarantine animal carriers and diseases from one area to another in the Indonesian territory without being equipped with health certification from quarantine origin, "explained the police.

Therefore, it will continue to process this case.

"Furthermore, we will delegate this finding to the Gilimanuk Working Area Quarantine," he concluded.
