Said Aqil Reported to the Police

JBN.CO.ID ■ PBNU General Chair Said Aqil Siradj was reported to the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Unit.

The Chairperson of the Nation Children Alliance (AAB) Damai Hari Lubis said that his party had reported Said Aqil because it spread hatred in the public space which had an impact on horizontal conflict.

"Yesterday we reported (Said Aqil Siradj) to the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Unit," Damai said at the Office of the Directorate of Legal Advocacy and Legal at Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Said Aqil, through his statement, was considered to have spread vile slander with the statements of the Prabowo-Sandi pair supported by extreme Islamic groups. The statement was said when Said was interviewed by one of the television program programs.

Peace added, Muslims who supported the Prabowo-Sandiaga couple were very offended by Said's statement. According to him, Said's words had cornered the Muslims who had made the decision of the cleric's ulema to support the Prabowo-Sandi couple.

"We are very offended by Said Aqil's statement because he stated (Prabowo's supporters) there were radical Islamic groups, extremists and terrorists. I think this has spurred hatred," he said.

On the same occasion, Secretary General of the Islamic Defender (Korlabi), Novel Bamukmin stated, Said's statement about radical Islam was not worthy of being delivered. Status Said who is the leader of the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia.

According to Novel, Said Aqil's statement has provoked Muslims who have now expressed their support for the Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno couple.

In the letter number LP / B / 0309 / III / 2019 / BARESKRIM dated March 18, 2019, Said Aqil Siradj is alleged to have uttered hate speech or hatespeech and violated Law Number 19 Year 2016 concerning Amendment to Law Number 11 Year 2008 concerning ITE Article 28 paragraph 2 Jo 156 of the Criminal Code.
